Parole movie depicts a normal story of a family and their internal differences and dynamics. Which is made complex to describe in a non-linear way by dividing it into several pieces. North Madras has always been a favorite backdrop for Tamil filmmakers.  Whenever it comes to narrating a gritty and raw crime story, directors of choice have always been North Madras. 

Perhaps that’s why director Dwarakh Raja has also chosen this region as the preferred location to set up his film to film the story of two brothers’ bloodshed and accompanying gruesome murders. Both the characters featured in the film are named after the historical fictional figures Karikalan and Kovalan, also played by Linga and RS Karthik. It is the rivalry between these drugs that makes the root of the film very strong.

Parole Movie Tamil Full Story

In Parole Movie, Sibling rivalry caused by one of the parents showing too much love for one child has always been tried in Indian cinema. The crime and drama movie Parole of November 2022 also follows the same, but this crime thriller is in a nutshell as an interesting court drama is also shown in this movie.

The film begins with a character named Aaryi who has died.  Aaryi, played by Janaki Suresh, was living with her younger son Kovalan, while her elder son Karikalan is serving his double life sentence. Kovalan, who hates his brother ever since plans to perform the last rites of his mother without informing Karikalan. Though circumstances force him to apply for his brother’s parole, the twist in the movie starts from here. The parole is just a sham, as both have bigger plans that they want to execute.

Parole Movie follows a completely non-linear storyline which may seem disjointed at the beginning, but flashes of memories are shown as such. Dialogues have also been introduced in a creative way by the director to bring life to the character of the film, which works to enthuse the characters of the film.  Perhaps this is the reason why the director has paid very close attention to everything from dialogue to background music to make this film interesting on a simple internal conflict.

Had the director not paid attention to these small things, perhaps the film would have proved to be a total failure to create excitement in the hearts of the audience. These nuances only maintain the dignity of the film.  With the upcoming twists and turns in the films, the story of the film becomes more and more attractive.

The compelling court scene is the best shot in this movie. Vinodini Vaidyanathan’s realistic performance as an advocate makes these scenes all the more effective.  This is probably the first time in Tamil cinema that the process of law followed in a parole hearing is being shown openly in a film.  It is the small moments that make this film unique.  Although the script of the movie Parole is so complex, it is presented in a very smart way to make it exciting. 

The background music by Rajkumar Amal is also apt, especially during the build-up sequences to Karikalan’s character, the peppy music adds to the film’s visuals. Further in the story, there are many such frightening revelations. However the special effects and overall production quality by the actors do a great job. Several scenes in this story can be quite terrific to you.

Both the lead actors of the film, Linga and RS Karthik make the film quite engaging with their strong performances.  Although the characters of both Karikalan and Kovalan matter a lot. Some scenes of this film have also been linked to the past where their background has also been shown. His adolescence is also shown when he is completely subjected to sexual abuse during his early days in the Juvenile Home, due to which he becomes completely hardened, and develops hatred against society in his heart. All these exploitations have a deep impact on him.

All these scenes shown in the background of the film are quite commendable and the makers should also be appreciated for taking the risk of filming such a sensitive subject, but it was necessary to highlight this sensitive situation a little better. So that people’s attention can be more focused on these issues. However, the graphics of the film, from sexual violence to physical violence and every single aspect of society, are shown better.

Parole Movie Tamil Key Highlights

However, despite the romantic angle in this film, the rest of the plot of the film manages to captivate the audience, keeping the film entertaining and exciting till the very end. The film also has some memorable scenes which make it evergreen. Especially the explanatory dialogue presented by Karikalan in which he is asked why do you want to escape from jail. 

Their answer is – the reason is very clear for Fan-Kathu. This dialogue might sound corny, but it means a lot to someone who is about to spend the next 28 years gracefully in the fan air. These are some of the simple yet meaningful moments depicted in the movie which makes one appreciate the work done by the director of Parole Movie and his young team.

Parole Movie Tamil Drawbacks

Incidentally, there are many scenes in this film that compel us to give positive ratings to this film as well as some negative ratings. Such as the romantic interests served by both Karikalan and Kovalan. Having such a romantic scene in an action, crime thriller movie kills the audience’s interest in the story. A girl who is interested in men does not match the story of the film at all. The craziest scene of the film happens to be when a bunch of goons tries to stab Karikalan, to make the film tragic and heroic where a romantic angle is shown through the heroine.

From which it seems that it has been forcibly depicted with romantic dialogues, perhaps it was not needed at all in that situation. However, this tragic moment unnerves the goons and it helps Karikalan escape from them. Karikalan is then confronted by the girl whom he is seeing for the first time. It is also a strange scene when the romance of the film ends on a romantic note after both of them fall in love. However, the film probably does a huge disservice to the film by rushing to end the romantic scenes, and that redemption scene at the end makes it completely irrelevant.

People were talking mostly positively about this movie. They love its background music and the scenes with the intensity created by the director.
